The 1st place where temporary shelter of our Prophet PBUH was built during the 1st big war in Badr

مقر قيادة المسلمين بغزوة بدر، أُقيم أحد المساجد التاريخية المعروفة حتى يومنا هذا "مسجد العريش" في محافظة بدر التي تبعد عن المدينة المنورة 150 كيلو متر والذي يعد شاهداً على أهم المعارك الإسلامية التي قادها الرسول صلى الله وسلامه عليه وقال الله فيها في القران الكريم" ولقد نصركم الله ببدر وأنتم أذلة فاتقوا الله لعلكم تشكرون".

تاريخ بناء المسجد

وذكر المؤرخون هذا المسجد في كتبهم حيث جاء بناء العريش على تل مشرف على ساحة القتال باقتراح من الصحابي سعد بن معاذ ليكون مقراً لقيادة الرسول للغزوة. حيث نقلت كتب التاريخ أنه رضي الله عنه قال "يا نبي الله، ألا نبني لك عريشًا تكون فيه ثم نلقى عدونا، فإن أعزنا الله وأظهرنا على عدونا كان ذلك ما أحببنا، وإن كانت الأخرى جلست على ركائبك فلحقت بمن وراءنا، فقد تخلف عنك أقوام، ما نحن بأشد لك حبًا منهم، ولو ظنّوا أنك تلقى حربًا ما تخلفوا عنك، يمنعك الله بهم، يناصحونك ويجاهدون معك".

مكانة تاريخية

يحرص زوار محافظة بدر على زيارة هذا المسجد التاريخي ومقبرة الشهداء وموقع "العدوة الدنيا" الذي قدم منه المسلمين من المدينة المنورة، وموقع" العدوة القصوى" الخاص بالمشركين القادمين من مكة المكرمة وجبل الملائكة، حيث يتذكرون قصة ملحمية من قصص التاريخ ونقطة تحول في نصر الدين انتهت بنصر مُبين للمسلمين في قصة خلدها التاريخ وتناقلتها الأجيال نتيجة صبر وثبات الرسول وصحبه واستشهد فيها 14 من المسلمين دُفِن منهم 13 في بدر وواحد في الحمراء هو أبو عبيدة بن حارث ابن عم الرسول عليه الصلاة والسلام.

وأصبح لهذه المنطقة مكانتها التاريخية حيث ذُكِرت في القران الكريم ونزلت الملائكة على جبالها وحرصت الكتب على توثيقها، حيث قيل إنها نسبة لبدر بن يخلد بن النضر أحد سكانها، وعرف الموقع كذلك بماء بدر وذكرها ياقوت الحموي في معجم البلدان وقال إن سبب تسميتها يعود لشكل أرضها التي تشبه القمر تحيط بها الجبال وتسمى بدر الصفراء نسبة لوادي الصفراء.

Mosque of Badr

Masjid Areesh is built on the site where the tent of the Prophet (ﷺ) was pitched during the Battle of Badr. The battle was directed from here.

The masjid has been refurbished and is much better in shape. Only downside is women need to climb lot of stairs

This is one of the most remarkable milestone in the history of islam. The battle of Badr was like a do or die situation for prophet & his companions.

Since Prophet SAW & his companions were few in number, 313 & comparatively the opponent troops from mecca were 3000+ with huge number of horses & camel; the general opinion was the Prophets side might loose since they were weak in number but the real miracle happened on that day.

When Prophet pleaded for help from Almighty… from sincere prayers, there were thousands of Warrior Angels sent to fight & they trashed the opponents into pieces. Alhamdulillah!

The management locked the rooms before check-out. Later, somehow, things managed, and we were allowed to continue in the room post lunch to the evening before leaving for the airport.

Al-Arish Mosque

The mosque was built on the site of Al-Arish, which was the headquarters of the Prophet’s leadership, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, in the Great Battle of Badr. Modern style.

This isn't Masjid Areesh, real Masjid Al Areesh is very near to Badar cemetery (Maqbara shuhada Badar)

Though it was getting constructed and not opened for public but is a place to remember the place where muslim warriors has placed their camps before battle of badr.

What is Badr?

Badr is a town in Al Madinah Province, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The desert city is located about 130 km (81 mi) from the Islamic holy city of Madinah. The holy city is the site where the Battle of Badr, between the Quraishi-led Polytheists, and the Muslims under the leadership of Muhammad (PBUH) was fought.

The Battle of Badr

Regarding the Battle of Badr, Allah Almighty said in the Qur’an: “Indeed Allah assisted you at Badr when you were weak, so be careful (to your duty) to Allah so that you may be of the thankful ones. When you said to the believers ‘Does it not suffice you that your Lord should assist you with three thousand angels sent down. ” (Qur’an, 3: 123)

The two armies met at Badr on 17th Ramadan, 2 AH. In the beginning as per Arab custom, single combat (one to one) took place. The famous Quraysh warriors Utbah, Shayba and Walid came to challenge three ‘Ansars’ from Madinah. The Quraysh refused to fight any of the ‘Ansars’, demanding their ‘equals’ and so the Prophet (peace be upon him) sent Ubayda, Hamza and Ali (may Allah be pleased with them). The three Kuffar were killed (Ubayda was hurt). The Quraysh got disturbed and began attacking en-masse. In the thick of the battle, the Prophet prayed to Allah. In Surat Al-Anfal Allah Almighty gave the answer: “When you asked for help from your Lord, He answered you. Indeed I will aid you with a thousand of the angels in rows behind rows. ” (Qur’an, 8: 9)

The enemies got frightened and began to retreat. The bravery and skill of Muslim soldiers under the leadership of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and the sight of so many angels struck terror in the enemies’ hearts. Seventy-two Kuffar in total were killed including their leader Abu Jahl. Ali ibn Abi Talib alone killed 36 of them. Fourteen Muslims were martyred. Seventy prisoners were taken by the Muslims.

The prisoners were treated with kindness and some became Muslims. In later days some of the prisoners said: “Blessed be the men of Madinah, they made us ride whilst they walked, they gave us wheat and bread to eat when there was little of it contenting themselves with plain dates. ” The rich prisoners paid ransom and were set free. Others were asked to gain their freedom by teaching 10 Muslims to read and write. The Battle of Badr strengthened the faith of the Muslims.

14 companions were martyred in the battle. Their names are listed at the site of the battle. They were:

1) Sayyiduna ‘Umayr ibn Abi Waqas. رضي الله عنه
2) Sayyiduna Safwan ibn Wahb. رضي الله عنه
3) Sayyiduna Dhu-Shimalayn ibn ‘Abdi. رضي الله عنه
4) Sayyiduna Mihja’ ibn Salih. رضي الله عنه
5) Sayyiduna ‘Aqil bin al-Bukayr. رضي الله عنه
6) Sayyiduna ‘Ubaydah ibn al-Harith. رضي الله عنه
7) Sayyiduna Sa’ad ibn Khaythama. رضي الله عنه
8) Sayyiduna Mubashir ibn ‘Abd al-Mundhir. رضي الله عنه
9) Sayyiduna Harithah ibn Suraqah. رضي الله عنه
10) Sayyiduna Rafi’ ibn Mu’ala. رضي الله عنه
11) Sayyiduna ‘Umayr ibn Humam. رضي الله عنه
12) Sayyiduna Yazid ibn al-Harith. رضي الله عنه
13) Sayyiduna Mu’awidh ibn al-Harith. رضي الله عنه
14) Sayyiduna ‘Awf ibn al-Harith. رضي الله عنه

The place is renowned for prophet stay here during battle of the Badar, made strategic decisions that's why it called as Areesh.

مسجد العريش مسجدٌ معروفٌ في بدر، بني في مكان العريش الذي كان مقرّ قيادة الرسول صلى الله عليه وسلم في غزوة بدر (يوم الفرقان) عندما وقعت المعركة العظيمة بين المسلمين والكفار، ومع عدم تكافؤ القوى في هذه الغزوة، لا في العدد ولا في العدّة، فقد نالت قريش هزيمة ساحقة، أدت إلى مقتل عدد كبير من رؤوسها، وأسر آخرين، ووقوع الغنائم بأيدي المسلمين، وهذا ما أشار إليه القرآن الكريم: (ولقد نصركم الله ببدر وأنتم أذلة فاتقوا الله لعلكم تشكرون) ، وورد ذكر هذا المسجد في جميع كتب المغازي وكتب التاريخ و الآثار، فبعدما نزل النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم والمسلمين معه في بدر، اقترح سعد بن معاذ رضي الله عنه على رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم بناء عريش له يكون مقرًا لقيادته، ويأمن فيه من العدو، وكان مما قاله في اقتراحه: «يا نبي الله، ألا نبني لك عريشًا تكون فيه ثم نلقى عدونا، فإن أعزنا الله وأظهرنا على عدونا كان ذلك ما أحببنا، وإن كانت الأخرى جلست على ركائبك فلحقت بمن وراءنا، فقد تخلف عنك أقوام، ما نحن بأشد لك حبًا منهم، ولو ظنّوا أنك تلقى حربًا ما تخلفوا عنك، يمنعك الله بهم، يناصحونك ويجاهدون معك» فأثنى عليه رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم خيرًا، ودعا له بالخير، ثم بنى المسلمون العريش لرسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم على تل مشرف على ساحة القتال، وكان ذلك من عوامل النصر بأمر الله والتي يمكن اختصاره فيما يلي:

- العريش وهو مقر آمن للقائد مع الدعاء المستمر من رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم تحت هذا العريش بأن ينصر الله هذه المجموعة مع الإلحاح صلى الله عليه وسلم في الدعاء ورفع اليدين حتى سقط رداؤه واستمر ذلك طوال الليل.

- من عوامل النصر أسلوب القتال حيث استحدث أسلوب الصف، وهو أسلوبٌ يجهله العرب.

- من عوامل النصر الأخرى تنظيم عملية استخدام السلاح فالنبل لا يستخدم إلا إذا اقترب العدو والسيف إذا اقترب الشخصان وهكذا مع وجود كلمة السر.

- من عوامل النصر الأخرى مراعاة العدل بين القائد وبين جنوده حتى أن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم كشف لسواد بن غزية عن بطنه ليقبلها لأن سوادًا اشتكى بأن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم قد أوجعه بعصا قد تشبه السواك عند تسوية الصفوف.

- من عوامل النصر تطبيق ما أشار إليه بعض الصحابة بأن يغور (يهدم) جميع الآبار إلا الآبار التي تلي رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، كما أنزل الله في ليلة بدر الكبرى مطرًا جعل الأرض صلبةً للمسلمين ونعاسًا يغشى المسلمين حتى أصبحوا في صحة وعافية.

والتحم الجيشان وكان النصر للمسلمين لأمر من الله سبحانه وتعالى حيث قتل من المشركين سبعون من صناديدهم وأسر مثل ذلك واستشهد من المسلمين ثلاثة عشر شهيدًا وهكذا أصبحت غزوة بدر بداية للأمل المشرق، وإضاءة لما يستقبل من أيام، وقاعدة لبناء العدالة لبني البشر واستشراقًا لمستقبل واعد للإسلام. ومسجد العريش من شواهد ومعالم المعركة ومن معالمها أيضًا العدوة الدنيا والعدوة القصوى اللتين جاء ذكرهما في القرآن الكريم (إذ أنتم بالعدوة الدنيا وهم بالعدوة القصوى والركب أسفل منكم)

Masjid Areesh is located at Badr, Saudi Arabia, at the exact spot where our Prophet Mohammed's (SAW) tent was pitched during battle of Badr. The minbar in the present mosque indicates the exact spot where the old mosque existed. Badr is about 70-80 miles from Madina Munawwara. Areesh means "shadow of palms". The battle of Badr was directed from this place.

This was the place where Muhammad SAW stayed and Muhammad SAW companions build a tent or qayema for him Peace Be Upon Him

A MOSQUE WHERE THE HOLY PROPHET MUHAMMAD PBUH SITUATE THEIR TENT AND PRAYED AND FINALLY GOT MERCI AND WON

Aresh means the tent.and that is the place where the tent of رسول الله ﷺ was there during 1st battle*ghazwa* between muslims and kufaar e makkah.

This masjid is builted at the place where the محمد صل اللہ علیہ والہ وسلم lead the batlle of badar. And had a خیمہ there

You can find an oil (Roghan e Balsan) for Paralysed patients also available in its raw shape of small sticks.

Disappointing how this entire area has not been looked after. We arrived around 1pm, the mosque and toilets were all closed. The mosque and area looked very unkempt. Nothing was signposted or detailed regarding Badr or where the battle took place, not in Arabic or English, everyone is just guessing. At least £50,000 needs spending on it (peanuts for the Saudis) but they have no pride in their history.

Its a historical place. This is where the Prophet PBUH made dua to succeed against the kuffar at the battle of badr

The place where our prophet muhammad s a a w w request in front of allah that if today muslim defeated by non muslims till the qayamat no Muslim left to pray and Allah help muslim in shape of send malaika (faristy) for muslims help and muslims won the 1st islamic battle

Salty water no toilets.it is a historical well and mosque.should be some government care for such place

The significance of this masjid goes back to the history of islam, Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) came for prayers before battle of badr

A local person told me that it was a place where our beloved prophet had his khaima (camp) during war of badar.

Near the city of  Badar you may find a small oval shaped field which is surrounded by mountains, is the battle field of Badar. Here, there are two mosques. One of them is built just on the spot where the shade of Prophet (S. A. W.) was made during the battle. It is slightly at the little height. This mosque is called "Al - Areesh" or "Al - Ghamama". Here prophet Muhammad sallala ho allhi wasalam begged an historic dua.he begged from Almighty Allah to give victory to the little force of islam. He sallallaho allihi wasalam beged Almighty Allah and said  if the muslims were defeated and martyred, there would be no one to pray one and lonely God. ALmighty Allah accepted his S. A. W.dua and only 14 muslims got shahat (martyred) and muslim became victorious.kuffar were killed in hundreds.

من المساجد المشهورة في بدر حيث بني في مكان العريش الذي كان مقر قيادة الرسول صلى الله عليه وسلم لمعركة بدر الشهيرة

راحة نفسية. لكن لا تشد الية الرحال. يكفي المرور بقصد رؤية مكان معركة بدر. يوجد مطعم الصبحي للأسماك من الذ 5 مطعم سمك ب السعودية.

Mosque at City of Badar where Prophet Muhammad SAW PBUH, stays for days during the war of Gazn e Badar. A mosque has been built and named as Masjid Al areesh.

The mosque is called masjid Al-areesh. This is the place where Muslims constructed a shade for the prophet used as command center for the great battle of Badr.
